ELECTRONIC FILING MANDATORY

Updated: January 6, 2011

As of May 1, 2006, all members of the Court's Bar, active and pro hac vice, must electronically file all civil and criminal case filings. The Administrative Procedures that prescribe electronic filings are accessible on our website.

To file electronically, you must register as an electronic filer with the Court and receive a Court-issued login and password. Before you can register as an electronic filer, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Complete the electronic filing training offered by the Court;
  2. Complete the electronic filing training offered by a trainer in your firm;
  3. Complete the computer-based training modules on the Court's website; or
  4. Complete training offered by another CM/ECF court and have an ECF account with that court(this includes the Utah Bankruptcy Court).

The Court has scheduled two-hour training sessions for attorneys and staff. Utah Bar CLE Credit is given for attendance at these sessions. Sessions are scheduled as needed. Class registration is available by contacting the court at 801-524-6100.

To register for a login and ID, you should complete, sign, and mail to the Court the Electronic Case Filing Registration Form available at http://www.utd.uscourts.gov/. Signing and submitting the form commits you to accept service electronically in lieu of paper service from the Court and from opposing counsel in any case in which you are the attorney of record.
