On October 31, 2022, the District of Utah implemented a pilot program to allow attorneys to efile new civil cases using the CM/ECF case filing system. This process eliminates the need for attorneys to email case initiating documents to the Clerk’s Office before obtaining a case number and filing in the case.

Although the pilot program was initially scheduled to run from October 31, 2022 until October 27, 2023, the program has been extended through October 27, 2024.

Participation in the pilot program is voluntary but encouraged. If the program is successful, attorneys may be required to efile all new civil cases in the future.
