The District of Utah has implemented a pilot program since October 31, 2022 to allow attorney efilers to create new civil cases in the CM/ECF case filing system. This process has eliminated the need for attorneys to email initiating documents to the Clerk’s Office prior to obtaining a case number and filing in the case.

This pilot program will run from October 31, 2022 until October 27, 2023. Participation is voluntary during the pilot phase. If the pilot program is successful, attorneys will be required to efile new civil cases in this manner.
