CM/ECF implementing multifactor authentication (MFA)

Sunday, May 11, 2025

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts began implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER.  CM/ECF users should enroll in MFA at their earliest convenience to preserve uninterrupted access and avoid missing filing deadlines. Users who do not voluntarily enroll in MFA will be randomly selected for mandatory enrollment starting in August 2025.  All CM/ECF users must be enrolled in MFA to maintain system access by December 31, 2025.  MFA enrollment will be optional for PACER-only access.
